Who we are
Élékéré Press is a Black-led independent literary press publishing across the literary and commercial spectrum.
Publishing is never neutral. It is a decision about preservation, access, and what is deemed worthy to endure. Our books are shaped by heritage, resistance, and desire: by what we inherit, what we refuse and what we reach for.
We publish work by writers not afraid to break the mould and tackle themes relating to power, gender, sexuality, class, race, memory, identity, and belonging in evocative and inventive ways. We are interested in pleasure. In obsession. In friendship. In falling disastrously in love. In wanting things we have been told not to want. In being Black and African and contrary in ways only we can be.
